06-14-15 Sun Returns!! ( But so does rain) ** Late Switching

489 fuels as visitors gather at the depot for today's run. Yard has been returned to normal look after Saturday's special train. About a half hour before departure 489 pulls the train into loading position as the advance inspection speeder comes down through the ashpit.

There was quite a crowd milling around the depot as of 9:00 this morning. One of the flat-roofed coaches was tacked on to the head end of the train to accommodate what appears to be a good crowd. Glad to see ridership picking up!

(Rats! As the train pulled out, the first two cars appeared to be empty. Perhaps the first one is just heading back to Antonito to balance the fleet.)

Rainy weather returns to end the weekend.

488 is moving rotary OM this evening. Videos will be posted as soon as I can get to processing them. Lots of activity this evening - 488 moving things around in the yard, 484 is out of the yard headed north. They just came back and took on water, then headed out of the yard again. Perhaps something with the engineer school folks.

488 backs away after spotting a flat near OM as 484 backs to the tank.

488 pulls a high side gon as 484 heads up the Enginehouse track.

After spotting the high side gon by the gray MOW cars 488 returns the flat car and OM back to storage track before moving off into south yard where more switching is going on.

488 pulls a cut of cars from south yard to tipple, cuts off the last car and returns to south yard.

Lots happening in the yard this evening, as they prepare for a week with the Engineer/Fireman school trains, and work session C for the Friends.
Will start with daily train 216 departure - only the N cam, technical issues with the S cam recording this morning.


Train 215's return.

After 215 returned, #484 left from in front of the engine house, and headed out of the yard. Meanwhile 488 was in the S yard switching, then came over and hooked up to Rotary OM. End result of all the moves was to get at a high side gondola. The rotary and a flat car had to be moved before getting to the gondola. 1st video is the Rotary, 2nd and 3rd are the additional moves.

After the above moves, 488 went back to the S yard and pulled a train up with another high sided gondola to spot that where the tank cars had been last session. Perhaps this is for more work by the Friends? As I post this 488 is still down in the South yard, I've occasionally heard a whistle toot, but can't tell what they are doing. Unfortunately it's work time, so any other moves of the day I'll have to post tomorrow.
