Speeders

Unread postby Sharon Evans » Fri Jun 05, 2015 11:57 am

I see 3 speeders parked in front of the wood working shop being worked on and more parked down by the stored rolling stock. Is there going to be a speeder owners run up the mountain?

We are going up to Cumbres Pass after the train gets in and then return to Chama. Tomorrow we go to Antonito and spend the night and back on Sunday. Lools like it's going to be a rainy weekend....

I was watching on the cam as it got darker and darker, going to be a wet run up the pass especially for those riding in open speeders.

A colorful lineup awaits departure. Hopefully the weather holds off for a few hours.

There is two open cars, ones covered with the blue tarp and the other one is just out of range of the south cam. Forgot to mention "it's great to be back in Chama!".......

I will post some photos when I get a chance. Had a wet run up to the pass but all the cars made it on the wet rail...

The speeders left for Antonito at about 8:36 Chama time. Looks like they all made it without a hitch.

Well, not quite all. I noticed one got set off and pushed into the parking lot before they departed. Some sort of breakdown, I would guess. As a Narcoa member and speeder owner (standard gauge, unfortunately), I know the heartbreak.

I think the Antonito cam caught them arriving.

Pretty Neat! Hope they all had fun, besides the rain. Thanks for posting the videos Larry. How many were there total?

I think I counted 18 Farol, pretty much the max they can have is 20, I believe I read that on their website, so a very good turnout.

Wonder if all 18 will come back to Chama tomorrow? That would be a fun ride. I had an opportunity to ride the fire control speeder on the V&T and it was a blast.
