05-30-15 Another Delightful Day in the yard!

Cameras catch sunrise in the yard as another day on the C&TS begins. It's quiet there now but just wait.

Looks like there might be a newly washed or painted tender on 489, a real contrast between loco and tender in the sun. Later 484 runs by 489 taking 216 east.

Check back soon for Larry's departure videos.

After 216 departs 489 switches the yard. Appears the caboose moved from beside the roundhouse a couple of days ago is returned. Then 489 continues to switch in the south yard as 463 runs to the tank and back to ashpit.

Please continue to check back for Larry's videos later in the day.

If you look closely towards the roundhouse it appears a track crew is working on a track switch this afternoon.

05-30-15 Train 216 Departure Tipple cam and Depot Cam. #484 leads the train today, and #489 sits at the coal dock.

05-30-15 After Train 216 left, #489 went to the South yard and picked up the caboose and moved it back to beside the roundhouse. They did this move the other day in reverse, obviously there had to be a reason for it - if any one knows would be good to have the full story. I tried a combination of the Depot cam and the S Tipple cam in this one.

Just to add a note -- as I know someone new will likely ask. For those that may not have been around before the external microphones were installed on the tipple cams, the very loud fan noise that comes on from time to time now on the Depot cam is indeed the internal cooling fan. It will go on and off as needed, and is not an issue.

Indeed - where is train #215? 7:30pm and one of our trains is missing... (And maybe another K-36 as well? used to seeing two cooling down outside the engine house in Chama.)

I know very little, and you may have seen it, but the bus left and returned with a number of people including most of the folks who work on the train. I do not recall the exact time but it was around 5:00. They were carrying some of the coffee thermoses and bags of other things from the rear cars.

I just saw a post on the NGDF that the train will be in around 11 or 12 tonight.

At 9:45 local time the CDOT Cumbres Camera picked up what appears to be a locomotive headlight coming up through the pines on the east side of the hwy 17 crossing. Time stamp is not accurate.

215 made it into the yard at 11:05 and complete train set went straight to the wye without stopping, then returns at 11:22 with turned train. Unable to read loco number.

Very late 215 returns at 11:05PM
Image
After turning at the wye, and leaving the cars at the depot, locomotive (489 I think) went to the shop with no stop at the ash pit.
