I went back to Roger's yard tour video from mid March to verify, that should be 487's tender still sitting there. 484 and 488 are the two locos now sitting in front of the shop with their tenders, I think 488 is on the left, but not positive on that.

Thanks Larry!! I've gotten confused in this "game of musical locomotives!" It's OK , I don't have "tender" feelings over being corrected.

487 fer sure, and, there's another tender down below the ash pit. I'll swing down and get a number off it tonight or tomorrow.

Not that it matters, but it looks like the 497 tender is off the track (trucks removed?) by the pit. I remember a year or so ago they moved it from the about where OM is now. Any ideas why the 497 tender is where it is now?

Love the photo of the coal tipple and the water tower, Doug. It is nice to have another view besides the web cams. Pretty neat! Thank you for posting!

The 497 tender is on trucks, and on track.

Doug
My mistake - sorry. Hey, thanks for the pictures! Like the others I seldom get a glimpse of that part of the yard.

I noticed the ash pile to the right of the tender.
Were the rails where the tender for #497 sits possibly used to get ashes from the ash pit (cold of course) for use as ballast or hauled elsewhere?

Alan and Doug,

More great pictures! I did not realize there is a switch there and that track ran down to the ash pit - could not tell from the google earth perspective. I also wonder after seeing this whether it is for removing the ash.

After looking at the yard forever on Google Earth, I was amazed at the extreme variation of altitude just within the yard itself. I'm gonna take some perspective pictures within the yard today, and start a separate thread. I'll be sure to cover the ash pit area well, because it's always intrigued me from the camera perspective.
