May 2015 Trains Magazine

May Issue features Cumbres and Toltec RR on the cover along with three recollections of former D&RGW trainmen who worked here. Also a great ad by Friends for membership.

Re: May 2015 Trains Magazine/Dalton sign

I like the cover shot. Good exposure for the RR obviously. I pointed out the cover to fellow members of the milepost and whistle board crews, mainly because it includes the Dalton station sign.
A bit off topic: We repainted the sign in 2010, my first year with the C session crew, and team leader Jim Gross was holding the stepladder for the painter when a gust of wind took the paint can. Unfortunately Jim was downwind and got more than a little of the splatter. He still had a smile on his face as he took stock, and that was one of a bunch of things that week that made a favorable impression on the team's newbie.

The Trains Magazine "May 2001" Issue was also good, if found. Front Page was "Saving the Cumbres," and a great story inside this issue. While riding the C & T S RR back in August 2002, they had several copies in their souvenier car. Realizing this, and pointing out to friends that I have a photo on pg. 60 of Pere Marquette 1225, I ended up signing autographs on that trip. This issue of May 2001, can still be found on eBay. A great issue!
