Some lettering was being done to the tender. Excellent workmanship and attention to detail.

Workmanship on the locomotive is museum quality. Looks too pretty to get dirty with a coal fire. :smiley24:

Clearly a labor of love. Thanks, Joe, for the detailed photos -- and thanks upon thanks for the complete restoration job being done by Marty Knox and his crew!

Dick, you are right. It's obvious this more than a simple rebuild. A lot things that were done over the years are being corrected. For instance, the boiler is able to expand the way it should over the frame. The boiler used to be welded to the frame. Very obvious the pride in workmanship and attention to detail. The attention to detail will ensure 463 is running for another 100 years.

And the same guys rebuilding 463 will be the crew running it on May 15, 2012. :smiley24:

OK, I'll bite. In the interior cab roof photo there is a voltage dropping resistor. Could someone tell me what it's being used in conjunction with? :-?

Its for the headlight so they can dim either the headlight or the tender light depending which way they are going. We were able to locate over 8 dozen 250 watt, 32 volt headlight bulbs that were new origional stock Westinghouse and GE brand a few years ago. What a find! They don't have many 32 volt headlights at Home Depot these days.
