Man, this is exciting! Who would've ever thought we would see 168 under steam?

Great to see that official release. I had watched some of the video of the council meetings, and good to know all got passed through. I believe John Bush at one of the meetings said it would be around 3 years from the time they receive the locomotive, until we see it running. Looking forward to that day!

Am I dreaming or is #168 a T12, 4-6-0 Passenger loco?

Amazing News! Who would have thought we will now have a big boy and a T-12 running! What's next... 492? 268? 278? :smiley16:
Enjoy,
Blake

There was a post on the NGDF about 268. Looks like it'll never happen due to the wishes of the museum that owns it.

I wouldn't hold your breath on the Big Boy either. If half of what I've heard is true, it'll be years before we see UP steam again... and the Big Boy is just a dream.

278 has potential though. Just takes a gondola full of cash.

Sure would like to see 492 as well. Just need another gon full of cash.

I saw the post of the NGDF about 268 but as a smart person said "Never say never". Although the odds are I will never see this locomotive or several other of my favorite steam locomotives run, time changes things. I thought I would never see 168 or the 611 run again, but there are now plans for them to be restored. All it takes is the right person and lots and lots of money.
Enjoy,
Blake

True enough.

For now, I'm quite content with the thought of seeing 168 alive. Congratulations to everyone at the C&T that has made this happen.

Are there any plans in the works for a fund raising effort for the #168 as there was for the #463?
