UTLX # 11036 tank car model offered

For those of you who would like to help support the Friends efforts in the restoration of the UTLX tank car fleet I have a “deal” for you. As you may be aware the Friends now have three (3) of the UTLX Van Dyke frameless tank cars undergoing restoration at the Antonito, CO CRF. Correct archbar trucks have also been obtained to update all six (6) of the UTLX narrow frame cars as well. These cars need journal brasses and wedges to make then roadable again plus many other parts for the frameless cars need to be fabricated. The Friends teams working on these projects need our support to make this happen this summer and next so that a unit train of the UTLX tanks can be ready for operation in 2015.


I am offering a 1:48 scale (On3/ On30) ready to run model of one of the UTLX Van Dyke frameless tanks that is undergoing restoration # 11036. Thanks to a generous contribution from San Juan Car Company of Durango, CO (John Engstrom) 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this car will go to the Friends tank car restoration. So you get an early Christmas present for yourself or a friend which is tax deductible and you support the restoration and eventual operation of the prototype tank car on the C&TS. These are factory new models with both On3 and On30 wheel sets included. This is an exquisite model that accurately depicts the prototype. BTW this # 11036 is no longer available from the mfg. and supply is limited to stock on hand.

Any chance of doing this with HOn3 tank cars?

Yes I have talked to Blackstone about something similar when they do another run of tank cars. I was also thinking that perhaps a complete commemorative train set with their coming K-36, tanks and long caboose might be another possibility. As of today about half of the On3/ On30 tanks have sold so before I get too carried away I need to see the rest go to good homes :)
