Turning the train

Unread postby Jim Reynolds » Wed Jul 16, 2014 5:24 am

I notice recently that after 215 unloads, the entire train is pulled away and turned. Has the wye been lengthened?

Yes Jim, the wye has been lengthened and the entire train can now be turned. I believe it was a 1000 foot extension.

Is the wye extension located on the old logging right of way?

No. The Tierra Amarilla Southern Railroad connected to the Rio Grande a bit further west of the Wye. I believe it was between the current Highway 17 crossing and the end-of-track.

Anyone know for sure?
