07-05-14 Train 215 Returns

Train 215 returns, sounds like they may have a sticky brake shoe in the consist as they are slowing for the depot.

Looks like they've spotted what I think is a reefer car, and a couple vehicles were loading it with supplies. Would be interesting to know the use for this car.

I suspect that the reefer will be used to carry supplies up to Cumbres. The Cinder Bear Specials and Cumbres Express start running tomorrow, running Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday through mid August. While they will go out of Chama as part of #216, I suspect that there's a short layover in Cumbres before riders board the bus to return to Chama. Time for snacks! :smilie6:

Sunday evening, July 6: Well, so much for my speculation. The reefer is still sitting where it was yesterday afternoon. Time will tell what it's there for.

I was thinking this morning that the train may have been full, and they just couldn't add the extra car to the consist today. I also noted very early (around 6am or so MT) there were a couple crew guys walking near the reefer, looking at it, one seemed like they were on a cell phone or radio. It is fun to speculate, and as said above - time will tell.
