July 4th 2014 Fireworks Extra

Unread postby Larry Gibson » Fri Jul 04, 2014 8:38 pm

Dinner/fireworks extra arrived back 5 min or so early. Proceeded through station area as fireworks shot over the wye. Only B/W available. Camera mike picked up explosions nicely but was aimed too low so only picked up a little of the light.

I'm at work, so can't watch everything, but seems like quite a fireworks show, as Jason said it would be!
Video is from several minutes before the train arrived, until it passed the depot on the way to the wye. If you want to see just the train go forward to about the 9 minute point. The earlier part has fireworks in the distance, a couple blow-downs by I assume 484, and steam hanging in the yard.

No train in this one, but just so you can see how good the Chama fireworks seem to be, this should give you an idea. Can't see a ton, we need a tilt control for the cam, (I can dream can't I?) but will give a good idea. As I type it's about 40 minutes after they started, and still seem to be going.

Finishing up from a day of watching. After one hour of solid fireworks train returned to depot, loco cut off and ran to ash pit. A little town put on a Firework Spectacular!!! Bravo to all!!

Thanks to Larry Sullivan for the videos added to my thread starters today. Glad to have it a joint effort.

I just got back from a bad morning at work, and you're post sure made me smile! Enjoy the day -- there is a world out there other than sitting at a computer -- someplace!!!
