Project Co-Chair John Engs (high forehead!) and Tim Bristow are working to replace decking on the flat car which will soon be a rider gondola.
Cook Car 053's interior is painted except for the floor. The car has been moved from the Car Shelter to the outside in preparation for painting this week - IF the Antonito winds cooperate!
Sam Hauck does some fancy router work to allow some of the decking boards to fit over the sill hardware. Flooring is being put down with ring shank nails.
The milling machine doesn't have enough throat to allow the finishing of journal boxes. Truck Team Leader Russ Hanscom will build a new neck to allow the milling head to sit a good deal higher.
Ed and Valley Lowrance visited Chama prior to Work Session A to clean brush just south of the Night Watchman's House - purpose? To establish a Friends' gathering place!
Friends volunteers can do anything! The truck parts are heavy, so Russ Hanscom and Marshall Smith are installing an electric hoist in the container to move heavy truck parts around. When at the door, they can then be loaded on a tractor. Note the new shelving racks at the back of the container.
The A frame for Drop Bottom Gondola 769 is almost completed. C&TSRR CMO Marvin Casias would like metal sheeting installed over the wooden A structure to extend its life. The paint crew will prep the car on Tuesday. The siding is so old and rough it will be hard to paint!
