Apparently, I have heard that 489 is in Chama for a boiler wash. The first ever oil burning engine in the vicinity, and also 489's first time in Chama since October 2019. Maybe she will return via a double header, or possibly head back light.

At the moment it appears that 489 is outside the house and that 9 coaches are set for tomorrow's train, so we could see a double header. I would not be surprised to see 489 as road engine.

Currently 489 is switching the train in the yard. Looks like the Chama, the tourist car, had been taken off so they were putting it back into its place in the consist.

After putting the Chama back, they removed the 5th coach and right now 489 is coupled to this 8 car consist, no idea what is going to happen.

Well, 489 has just headed out of Chama with that 8 car consist and fire patrol speeder following behind. The train was empty so maybe the ultimate test up the grade. They have to get the cars back later today so can get ready for tomorrow's train.

My guess is that they are testing how well 489 copes with the grade out of Chama. An oil burner has never run on this section before so is a good idea in my mind.
