Can anyone give me detailed directions for the drive into Osier from Rt. 17 ? I know where the the turn off is located from Rt. 17 (mile marker 29), but there appears to be several places where the forest road divides. Is the route clearly marked by signs ?

I've got a dumb rookie question for you. There are dozens of short "roads" that sort of look like driveways stemming from the main road. They're all fairly short, a few hundred feet in length, and they all point the same direction. What are they? My best theory is they're used by hunters to get their trailers off of the main road.

If you want some nice photo locations, turn right just after you cross the state line and this road will take you to 2 nice spots. The first has the track coming around a curve and the road is at the apex. Continue along this road and up a steep incline will get you to the crossing where this road heads down into Los Pinos valley. There is ample parking at both spots. I have shot 215 passing both and still was able to get to Osier before 216 arrived.

J haven't any idea. Considering the location I'd guess loading points for stock trucks

Osier, Co. = Here is a link to the Osier Lunch stop. http://www.osier.org/ once you are on the website you will find a link that says how to find us. Most all the signs are gone but the easiest thing to do is stay on the main forest service road and don't take any turnoffs. After you get to the top of the mesa you will see stock pens on your left. Stay on the main road don't turn. You will see lots of what I call driveways going to camp sites on both sides of the main road. During elk hunting season most all of the camp sites will be full.
IMHO the directions on the website are easy to follow.
