.
The ritual of cleaning out the fire grate on 489 starts our day with wonderful train sounds and clear views. This is a long video. It enables the viewer to watch the full activity of the west side hostler as he goes about steam cleaning away the grease and grime that collected during night. In some quarters the tool he deploys is called a dart. 720p or better and full screen to have up close picture of the action.

Train 216 carries a full roster of passengers to Cumbres Pas with 489 and 484 in the lead.

After a great trip, passengers walk the walk and talk the talk.

488 returns from the wye with the coach set as 484 and 463 get active. 484 moves from the ashpit out in front of the engine house as 463 backs into the south yard with a caboose, cuts it off, and then moves to the west side of the shop. Neat to see 3 active locos out at the same time this late in the season.
