C-DOT camera feeds

Unread postby Dick Trimble » Mon Jul 02, 2018 6:00 am

Although they are "up" on the CDOT site, the C&TSRR feeds from the cameras on the pass, and the Antonito camera, have not been functioning since at least Friday. Have been able to watch the Spring Creek Fire from the Antonito camera (especially the other night when it blew up). The small pics at CDOT have no comparison to the enlarged ones fed from The Train!!! Hope it gets fixed soon!!

I have the same problem Dick Trimble has lately. At least one of the CDOT cameras is always down. Today both Pass cameras are not current. I've re-freshened my browser, dumped cookies, etc. to try and remedy this, to no avail, but for now will rely on Sharon to post screen shots.

I do have issues with these cams at times. Yesterday the Cumbres south cam did not refresh the image for over an hour while the north cam was up to date.

Those CDOT cams are using cell towers to connect and solar power to operate. This makes them rather unreliable.

And, don't forget, they were installed and are managed by the government.

I appreciate the government installation, and cell tower transmission, but the noted cameras ARE working at the CDOT sites, but not with any recent updates on the C+T site -the Antonito site on the train feed show a last refresh on "2018-06-29" at "20-06-56", while the CDOT site is current (July 2, 2018, 11:58am -EDT!).

I watch the camera channel using Chrome and find that if I clear cache for the browser each morning and then refresh the tab the cameras live in that I get fairly reliable CDOT images for the day. Every so often I need to shut down and restart the browser. And there are those days when it's just better to check for Sharon's daily "feed." My technical two-cents...

ALL ARE "UP"!!! Thanks for whatever it took. If you look carefully, you can see the smoke column beyond the "tabletop" on the Antonito camera. At night, the glow has been immense.
