6/10/18 Sunday First school begins today

The first Fireman/Engineer School beings today. This afternoon we should see one of the locomotives being used to give feminization or familiarization, as the case may be, rides to the students with them going out to Labato and back. Tomorrow will be very busy in Chama with 6 departures/arrivals. The normal 216 and 215 and the students do 2 round trips to Cumbres Pass, one leaves before 216 in the morning and the second usually around 1 pm after then have lunch.

Looks like 487 is going to get the extra coaches for today's 216 while 463 takes on coal.

Wonder if the student are going out on the line to meet it. Been thinking, I know dangerous, 463 is slated to power the geology train a week from today. It would not surprise me if it was on the lead going out of Chama to make it easy to cut off and run light the rest of the way to Antonito.

My guess (and this is only a guess) is that both locomotives this morning returned to the water tank after coaling up in order to wash down the coal. They do that if it is really dusty.

Probably correct Robert. That would also explain why there was so much runoff as the water went in.
