5/25/18 Eve of opening day

The 315 should be headed out sometime and the K36's should be getting hot for tomorrow.

Today should see the moving of the consist over to the main in front of the depot. Whether 489 comes over from Antonito today is a maybe. Least we forget, the great lunchroom crew at Osier has been busy most of the week getting ready to begin serving that great meal beginning tomorrow. I am now seeing smoke in Antonito, though can't grab it since my Bandicam is focused on Chama.

Headed out for my day, should be back mid afternoon to process what I have recorded. No freezes we hope.

Have a good morning Sharon. Here are a couple of videos of action in the yard while you were gone.

When visitors are coming and there is no more time to clean up, we often toss the remaining loose stuff under the bed. The folks at Chama were so organized they got the weeds cut. Don't see any loose stuff to hide. Jason, my guess the noise coming from the Depot Cam is the microphone picking up fan vibration by way of conduction. Suspect vibration isolation will dampen most of it. How do you normally handle this? Thanks again for making a 2,000 mile trip to prepare the yard cams for the start of the season.

I will have full video and stills posted later this afternoon since I can't stop Bandicam while its recording the activity. Thanks Rick for those videos to cover until I can do something.

Well the afternoon progresses, all 3 K36's in Chama are hot and out and the Friends are spraying weeds.

Talked to John Cole and he said a crew is working on getting the lettering back on the tank.

Next questions are: will 489 come west today and will they position the coaches at the depot today or tomorrow morning.

Anyone know what is going on here

Just spoke to John Cole again and he alerted me to the fact that 489 is coming west with a media train so will be in later. He also said that it was some kind of tour group walking about.

Arrival of the media train with 489 leading:

This coach appeared between the 1540 and 1550 grabs on the Cumbres cams so the media train must have just been there so at least another hour until it arrives in Chama.
Update from John Cole, as of 1705 MDT the train has not even gotten to Labato.

Once switching was completed, there is a 9 car train 216 staged at the depot so double header if this does not change.

The depot camera microphone is five or 6 feet below the camera and inside the attic. There's no way it's picking up fan noise from the camera. I haven't heard the noise you're describing, but I imagine it's either air-conditioning or plumbing noises from inside the attic.

I plan to be back up there in September and will do any fine-tuning that is necessary.
