Another Fantastic Fall Tour!

Unread postby Mike Vaughn » Thu Oct 19, 2017 5:41 pm

On October 2nd my wife and I rode the train from Chama to Antionito, Parlor Car style. What a great trip, fall colors were in full splendor and again a trip that will always be remembered. The day before we had driven our 1926 Model T from Red River, NM to Chama. That was a fantastic trip as well. We drove across the John Dunn Bridge at Arroyo Hondo over the Rio Grande River. This is a bridge at the bottom of the gorge accessible by a "Jeep Trail" on a county road. The Model T did great as the were built to traverse roads like this was. Here are a few pictures. Our Model T in Chama while 487 was being prepared for the student train.

Here is a shot of the switchbacks that we traversed in the Model T to leave the bottom of the gorge, this is on the west side of the river.

I've got a new level of respect for you, Mike. Taking that Model T into the back country is gutsy.
