I read on another site that the rings are on the piston and it is back in the hole with the rods on. The air pump is still off and the tender needs to be attached.

The air compressor is being rebuilt and should be back soon. Hopefully this winter the shop guys will have time to work their magic on the 84 as it is the last engine that they haven't gone through the running gear and timed the engine. All of the other engines are running square for the first time in decades (in the case of the 87). That should cut down on wear and tear as the engines will be pulling the same on each stroke, that and the oil cellars on the drive axles should cut down on maintaining the engines. Woo hoo!

They got her pistons and gear back together over last weekend, and today after lunch today, Friday, they lit up the firebox. She was making a little steam when we left the CRF mid-afternoon.

Great news, did they get the rebuilt air compressor back from Bernie's shop?

To finish this thread on 484, Russ489 Posted this on another board "We ran 484 lite back to Chama today ahead of 215. She is scheduled to run as helper tomorrow. Plans are to have her available for service for the remainder of the season."
now back to our regular programing.
