Final Hurricane Harvey Update from me

Unread postby Jason Rose » Wed Aug 30, 2017 10:53 am

My rain gauge was right at 30" when the sun came out yesterday afternoon. That's 30" of rain in approximately 80 hours.

We got through with no real issues...but only because God was watching over us. No other explanation. Neighborhoods in every direction around us flooded, some catastrophically. Had Spring Creek risen another foot it would've come in our house. The creek normally sits about 74' feet above sea level and the top of the bank is 92'. Monday night about 2100 it topped out at 111.45'. It was more than a mile wide (normally about 40' in the channel) at the Interstate 45 crossing in Spring.

That is a Biblical amount of water.

It will be weeks before things begin to return to normal. It'll be years before that process concludes. It's not even over at this point. While we're ok in Spring now, water is still rising on the east and south sides of the metro area. People are still being rescued and homes are still flooding.

I am grateful.

Glad to hear that you and your family and safe and out of danger. Such a tragedy for all the displaced families that have lost everything they own, I can't even imagine.
