Watching a charter freight leave the yard today. Neat to see 488 as a rear helper on this one! Hate to see operations coming to an end this season. Thanks to all who made the web cams possible.

A couple of guys in my department watched that departure with me. There are several other people in my office that regularly watch, not because they're railfans, but because it's such a captivating spectacle.

My wife watched from her office as well and one of her co-workers has watched several times before.

Truly an inspiring sight!

Agreed, Watching on the shore of Lake Michigan this morning with a bit of coal smoke in the air too from the car ferry Badger.

There is just something special about the smell of coal smoke and steam no matter the source.

Nuts! I missed it. We need better networking! We should find out before so we can watch. Anyone who knows of something going to happen needs to pass the word, especially post season.

I've been thinking about ways to do that. I'm open for suggestions.

It's my hope that by spring I'll have a functioning archive feature on the site so you can go back and see what you missed.

Sometime Wednesday the passenger cars will be moved from Chama to Antonito, probably in the morning. Don't know when (jobs can wait) or which engine.
