10/1/16 Last month of the season

Seems that the railroad has experienced a great season on 2016 and, as we get into the last month, lets not be sad that the yard will go quiet, but rejoice in what we have seen and will see next year. Today Goose 5 does an Osier flip and we get the regular trains with extra cars. Double header, don't know yet but we will soon, there are 10 cars staged.

463 moves to the pit now that 487 is headed to the tank.

From the fact that 487 has moved out on the main after getting water and not backing down, leads me to believe that they are waiting for 463 to get ahead of them to the coal dock.

Well, we have 487 sitting by the tipple, 463 at the coal dock and Goose 5 wanting to get out on the main, conference time.

463 has gone into south yard. We will see what is going to transpire.
I will have them up shortly, but those watching will have note that something is wrong with the switch leading off the main into the coal dock.

Departure of train 216: 463 road locomotive, 487 helper and 11 cars, 7 coaches, snack car, open gon, tourist and parlor. Wonder if the green coach closet to the 463 will come back as an Osier flip coach?

Yep, they did do the flip coach again. Makes it easy for the Chama - Osier - Chama passengers since they do not have to change coaches.

Goose #5 leaves for Osier while 463 and 487 prepare for today's double-header.



Train 216 once again a double-header, this time with 11 cars in the consist behind 463 the road locomotive and 487 the helper. Wonderful day for a train ride in the fall colors for sure!



Goose #5 returned from Osier



Train 215 returns with 10 car consist behind 484. After turning the wye, they took off two cars so looks like an 8 car train on Sunday. No double-header, unless a last minute addition is needed. Note also in the North cam view smoke from the West side stall in the shop, believe 315 was hot in there.

I was recording quite late last night, past dark really just in case some movement late in the day, caught this herd of 8-10 deer wandering in the North yard then some went to the South side right under the tipple. I counted 8 for sure, but think there were more off the swamp side. Some came from the swamp, some from across the street. They were milling around for well over 1/2 hour, and likely still there when I couldn't see any longer. I tried to brighten this video some, it was darker than it looks here. This is when I wish we had the infra red cameras.
