To all those that have today as a holiday, enjoy the last holiday of summer!

484 up early this morning preparing for the school train. Today two runs to Cumbres and back, with lunch in between. A busy day on the railroad with the two trips of the school train, the normal 216, 215 trips and the NARCOA speeders are due back in Chama this afternoon as well.

Happy Labor Day everyone and there are some folks in Chama who paid a lot to labor on a K36 today.
We see 487 on the east side and 489 on the west side of the house still resting.

Hard to see, but I think the student just gathered in front of 484 for their group photograph.

These were added to the train giving them 10 cars including the caboose. Isn't this pushing the limits of a K36 with freight? Also someone wants to challenge those student engineers.

In regards to the ability of a K-36 to take the student train up the hill, it is rated at 230 tons. From the ETT, I calculated the train (empty) at about 120-130 tons with the 10 cars, so really still well below the rated capacity for a K-36.

Today's video -

First train of the day is departure of the engineer/fireman school train. Nice smoke in the cool morning air.

Next train 216 Departs Chama

The school train returns from the first trip to Cumbres, crew eats then does a bit of switching - 2nd train heads out with the normal stop for water.

The NARCOA speeders return from their trip to Antonito. Now done with this trip to the C&TS, they will pack things up and head on home.

463 brings in train 215 today.

Finally the 2nd section of the school train returns.
