First Day Glitch

Unread postby Jason Rose » Sat Oct 06, 2012 10:02 am

With seemingly every railfan in the country trying to watch this mornings' departure, the system was completely overwhelmed.

About 15 minutes after the train left I was able to get back into the cameras. Both have been restarted and are now working normally.

There is a huge problem. 2 hour time difference between Floriduh and Chama. That means the daily train leaves during my lunch hour. I will have to watch using the Android fone. Dang!

Had a freeze up just as train 2 cleared the coaling tower. Got the tail end of it passing the water tank:

Love the cameras!

I am running into a glitch, though. Whenever there is signficant movement on either camera, the view will freeze--sometimes for a minute or more. I suspect that it is a bandwidth issue. Is anyone else having this problem? I don't think that it is on my end, but I wouldn't rule that out. Comments appreciated.

Thanks.

This is a very exciting addition to the railroad. What I would like is a to add to this forum showing the technical side of how the system works and what are the components. Something very much like we have been doing with the rolling stock, locomotives, structures, etc,. I think if 'we' know what it takes the sytem mught be added to so that Antonito and Cumbres and . . . could be added to the whole system.

I also would not be opposed to selling ads space on the sign in / hookup splash page. Not to the viewing page but just the page that comes up first and is displayed while the final hookup is loaded. Just a future funding thought.

Once again many thanks to all that made it happen and to those that donated the equipment and funds, with out all of you well. . . . . . .just thanks. Russ

Russ, the plans are to have an article in the winter edition of the Dispatch giving as much information as we can about the setup and the "Good Guy" crew who did the actual installation. This project got put to bed to late for the next edition (Fall) .
