08-11-16 Sun Rays and Trains

The sunshine on various places in the yard makes for an interesting start of the day. Interesting how the sun angle lights the yard differently throughout the year.

Morning preparations: Right now there is a 4th coach staged for today's 216.

With Chama work sessions over for the year, maybe they are just clearing the area around the engine house. The OK has its wings deployed so not many places to move it until they are retracted. Where ever 484 went, I not longer can even see steam/smoke. I am now seeing smoke down close to the wye. Its getting real close to departure.

Looks like the 2 young gentleman who work around the station are moving the boxes that were unloaded yesterday afternoon from the RPO section to the storage section. New shelving perhaps?

Interesting that it is 9:40 and they still haven't got the train hooked up yet, I wonder if 489 is being called on for 216 duty. We'll soon know. Will be cutting things close for sure.

Someone bringing a bicycle on the train - 1st time I've seen that.

As Sharon noted 484 is now in back of the shop, can just see her smoke through the trees.

This are hopping right now. The 484 is on the lead where the RPO is parked. There is a road crew taking over the 489 at the coal dock. The 484 has now gone over to the south side of the house, wonder if they found something wrong. As 484 went by the tipple, the valve gear was making a weird, clicking noise.

It appears to be very quiet today at mid afternoon except for the staff at the gift store. Looks like they might be unpacking and/or sorting merchandise outside on the depot platform.

Shelving being put together -- this is what likely was in those boxes we saw them bring in yesterday.

RPO has been moved away from it's home near the depot. Still have a lot of boxes out there to find a new home to store them in.

487 now done for the day after a couple hours of switching in the South yard. The RPO is back in the South yard someplace, the MOW colored gondola and a caboose have been put where the Friends work cars usually are. Another busy day at the railroad!

What you are seeing is the new kitchen storage car (red) and the block and tie car that goes with the derrick, both were worked on during E and F. I would think that the railroad is going to use the kitchen storage car in place of the RPO for now since the Friends don't need it until next year. They must be getting ready to letter the RPO. There are some pictures of both in this recent thread of mine. viewtopic.php?f=129&t=3861
