The yard is quiet now with two locomotives simmering away by the shop, but soon things will pick up with Friends showing up for work session C, and of course today's train activity. Weather forecast showing near 90 the next few days, you folks take care of yourselves in the unusual (for Chama) heat, stay hydrated!!!

484 all fueled and ready to go, now awaits hooking up to her train. Meanwhile the fire speeder heads for the wye to get turned, and many Friends are working in groups all over the yard. A busy day at hand.

484 taking on sand, I've noticed they are doing this some mornings now rather than sanding in the evening, not sure why that is.

Start with train 216 leaving right on time with #484 leading up the hill. Lots of Friends waving as the train passes.
This one I found interesting to watch. The long lumber which has been sitting on the ground all winter, near the bunk house, along with what was newly brought in a few days ago gets moved to the swamp by the big fork lift, back hoe machine -- the obstacles to overcome, and bumps to go over, without losing the load has to be a bit of a nerve wracking move. Very nicely done by whoever is operating that machine!
I took a random hour of time and sped up the video to a little over a minute -- just to illustrate how much work is happening this week, people all over doing their various projects. I look forward to the pictures hopefully to be posted of the close-up work.
