Given what was said last fall and its current location, and by the looks of the lower frame and some old pictures I have come across, I am guessing the 483. But it is hard to tell since we can not see the entire profile.

Actually it's 482's tank on 483's frame.

When the D&S swapped 497 for 482 many usable parts came from 483. 482's tender shell was in less than good shape and 483's tender frame was a little bent up from a derailment with 494 in Sept. 1958 near Carbon Jct. to remedy this problem 483's tank was put on 482's frame and off to Durango they went.

But I guess this means then that the tender in the picture is in worse shape than it looks - and that is not too good.

It would probably be ok for a display with a little work. I would imagine major repairs would be needed for any possible operational restoration.

Even though a cosmetic job doesn't mean it's ready to run, perhaps the fact it is looking better might give the powers that be an incentive to get it running again.

It would take a lot of work to make it cosmetically showable. There is a lot of rusted through plates.

I was walking the yard this morning and ran into several of the guys working on the 483 this session. Their focus will be on getting the parts removed during the asbestos remediation back on 483. They have one boxcar of parts and still need to find a second car of parts.
Restoration of the tender will require some thought since the wood decking is rotted and the tank will need to be removed to fix the decking. Additionally,the frame is noticeably bent. As additional options, there are several tender tanks stored at the oil dock near 483.
