05-30-16 Happy Memorial Day

Unread postby Larry Sullivan » Mon May 30, 2016 5:46 am

For those of us in the US today is the Memorial Day Holiday. Have a great day everyone, but remember what the day is - remember those that have given all so we can have our freedoms.

I'll be down there this morning, romping around on an all-terrain forklift. Apparently, we're moving some wheelsets and other stuff out of the Swamp (the lower, wetter, storage area to the East) some of which will be loaded for the passenger and tank car truck projects in the Antonito CRF.

Be safe out there Doug.

Question of the morning: will 489 get the call or will they turn 484 back. Course if they have enough reservations to need 2 extra coaches double header would be in order.

In the quiet of post train departure, 484 has moved out to the ash pit for its daily service and 463 simmers at the house. The Friend's crew for the second week of work is busy on the cars they are restoring.

Does not look like the 463 has moved at all today. The 484 must be out on the south side of the house because I can see black smoke there.

Train 215 30 arrives Chama almost on time stopping at the depot at 1609.

We see 487 approaching the coaling tower.

463 did come to the ash pit and for water today, but that is her only movement this afternoon.

A small compilation today - #489 takes out train 216, and #487 brings back train 215 in the afternoon. Only other activity for the day (not on video) was #484 and #463 trips to the ash pit and for a drink.

This one is for Doug, driving the monster fork lift - arriving for work, and then taking out what looks like a wheel set. Several trips were made through the day. Friends also seen working on the kitchen car again this week, and I'm sure other projects out of sight of the cams.
