Let the sun shine in...

Unread postby Edwin Frey » Thu Mar 03, 2016 7:53 am

I notice that the east (left) door to the engine house is open this morning. Since it's only about 25º down there this morning, I doubt that was done for the comfort of the shop crew. Granted, this isn't "headline news", but after several months of just looking at snow, it's something....

#15 pushed the locomotive in the right side stall out in back, came back out to retrieve #463, and shoved it back into the engine house... snowy cab roof and all. As of 10:40, #15 is back where it has been sitting for most of the winter, shut down, and waiting for whatever comes next.

I think that was 484 in the right stall. Now the BAD news, somehow the recording stopped as 15 was making its initial move over to the house so I do not have anything, sorry.

I don't like to repeat individual things I hear, because I'm not a snitch (just kidding). But mostly because I don't want to repeat them inaccurately. I get the general information that repairs and winter service on the locomotives is going well, if not great, especially since the engine house grew has been short staffed. Good to see the 463 inside.

I would think that the 484 is done and ready for its tender when they decided to re-mate them.

The 484 is getting new rod bushings. She's out back, minus the rods.

Hey Doug, how was your winter? I imagine it's quiet and relaxing in Chama.

What winter???? :-) It's -gone-! And it was fast, too. I'm already getting my diabolical plan ready for May! I'm honestly wondering how far up they're gonna have to go to find snow for the Flanger Special. I was thinking I might run up to Bighorn for a look this week. See you soon!
