Several hours later and not much has changed.

There is definitely not much activity noted in the yard and no speeders have moved.

Looking at the coal dock later in the pm shows that they have replaced the retaining boards.

I've lightened the shadow so the new planks on coal dock are visible.

Jason, it would be nice if the camera was tilted left a couple of degrees to get more of the dock.

Tom, the camera can't be turned any more as it's right against the structure of the tipple, so what we have is the best possible view. See the pics here of the North camera and you'll see what I mean. viewtopic.php?f=79&t=1474

Sorry Larry, i think a few more degrees would show all the tender at the dock. Maybe a scheduled remount next year to get a better angle.

Remind me in the spring, Tom. However, I have no idea if I'll be able to get up to Chama next year.

I think that Jason, if he gets up there, needs to look at how moving the camera will affect our ability to see the engine lead. I too would like more of the dock, but not at loosing the lead.

I am not an engineer nor play one on the internet but i think the lead could be picked up by the tank and get more of the dock in. Most the morning the lead is in a shadow so is hard to see. The dock gets good sun in the am and the ability to watch the full tender being filled is a better option in my mind!

There are open applications for asst. minion. All applications will be considered.
Or maybe a sponsor for an additional camera or three.
Seriously folks, the web cams (and this web site) are an all volunteer effort and that mostly boils down to Jason. If anyone wishes to help with these, contact Jason. and of course if you can't actively assist donations to to the tip jar are always welcome.

Thanks, Rich.

We're always looking for ways to improve, but reality is what it is. I'm 1000 miles away with family and job responsibilities. Change will happen slowly.

Tom has a good point. So does Sharon. That lens is already pulled back all the way. So, to see more Coal Dock, you have to give up some view of the Lead.

Just for grins, the blue line is about the view now, the red equals a 7 degree swing to the left.

Clever stuff Rich.

It might be that, with the wider coal dock, the locos will pull a tad further forward so the tender comes into better view.

Or buy a Drone - now, that would be wild !

7 degrees clears the trees on the right and brings the full dock into view. Nice. Now, we got to get them minions to Chama to work it out!
Jason, is there a pic of the North Cam mounting?

I found it. Now my question is, do they make a longer mounting pole so the camera can swing more.
