D&RG #168 Move

Unread postby Jason Rose » Wed Sep 23, 2015 8:13 am

D&RG #168 is being loaded on a trailer today in Colorado Springs where she has been resting since 1938. Tomorrow she'll be truck to Antonito. Over the coming years the C&T will fully restore this 1883 Baldwin locomotive to haul the fleet of historic passenger coaches being restored by the Friends and the railroad.

These are exciting times!

Thank you Jason for the update. It is going to be great seeing another historic piece of D&RGW motive power running on the C&TSR. Watching the old locomotive come back to life will be a wonder to behold. Keep us posted, Steve

Thank you, Jason, for the great announcement regarding #168. Do you know what time she is due to arrive in Antonito tomorrow? I would love to be there! :herald:

Sorry, Brad. I don't know. If I hear, I'll post it.

Here's a video that the C&T posted of the move:

Great news that this is happening, is there a tentative time line for her restoration? I hope she will be well advanced when I next visit in 2017.
Will a '168' sub section be created on the forum to keep us up to date?

I believe the restoration timeline will be determined by the amount of donations.

Yes, we'll have a section on the 168 when the time comes. I'll see what I can do about getting timely updates and media from a few of the locals.
