When I was there last week the scaffolding was still up in the back. Quick work to get this done. This picture was taken 8/23/15.

Some pics of the other structures behind Cumbres. I believe these are the Charles Lively buildings.

Ron is a good man to have help as he was once an Arizona forest ranger in his working career. Looks like Bob missed what is still standing of the Lively gas station/store. Dave Ferro said that Ken Lively came up about 10 to 15 years ago when they were working on the hill sharing some stories of what it was like growing up on Cumbres Pass.

Where are the Lively structures? I explored Cumbres dozens of times and never seen them. I thought I located the foundation for the Lively general store on the road over the hill, behind the pavilion. But I guess I didn't if it's still standing.

Really glad to see some of the dead timber coming down to mitigate the fire danger.

Jason, look at this link from a couple of years ago and between Tom and Terry on the right of the first photo you will see the collapsed building right next to the shell still standing in todays photo. We are standing right next to the carman's house facing north.

I think the collapsing building is one of the Lively buildings. If someone wants to hunt through the Dorman pics and locate, that would be nice. The building is on the old dirt road behind the car inspector house. I'l try and take some more pics of that area.

Clearing out dead beetle kill trees is still going on at Cumbres today. Here's some pics.

Bob is the chief logger. Doug Frederick is letting him use his 20" saw to bring down the dead trees.

And here it is on the ground

This is a 16" saw in front. Big trees!

A lot of firewood

The wood rounds are being offered to the employees of the Cumbres and Toltec for free.

This photo of the Livey store is from the Dorman collection. If you look close there is a driver in the car which is supposedly Mr. Livey's. Per the sign; Chama is to the right of the photo, Antonito to the left. How does that square with the the remains at Cumbres now?

Assuming the view is from the old Hwy 17 RoW and looking towards the wye, it squares perfectly.

I think...

If you look at the structure in my pic, it has a rounded roof. So was the rounded roof building one of the Lively cabins?

Here's some pics from today, Saturday Sept 5th.
