Craig, I heard that also. I wonder if the grant was denied?

The Town of Antonito actually had a grant at one time (could have been 5-6 years ago) but turned it back a number of years ago as they didn't know how to or want to administer it. That is what I was told at that time. I am not sure what the plan is moving forward.

Tim: Would it be prudent for the FRIENDS to offer taking it off their hands so the RR can have both Historic Depots. I believe this would make the CATS complete and the building would make a great Museum for the RR plus giving us a large footprint in Antonito. JMO!

The Depot is being rehabilitated from the inside-out. We have finished a 75% interior finish this October. The Town of Antonito is going for a grant to work on the Exterior next.

Oh Yeah, the Town is going for another Grant to work on the exterior too. If granted, the work would start this next summer. I can't speak for Antonito, but I'm sure they are willing to work with folks to make the building profitable for the Town. I see ideas thrown out in this forum, and I think if the Friends can come up with a sound proposal, they would listen. We have installed both electricity and heat in the building at this point.
Also, rumour has it the Friends may know the location of the semaphore that used to be attached to the Depot. I know the Town would love to reinstall it, if it can be found.
How's that for a bit of information? Thanks for thinking about the old Depot. It's a beauty.......even if only on the inside right now........

Yes Jason, I do.......I have to apologize though, as I am still learning my way around the site. I put them under Board Index; Structures; Antonito Depot (Stone). If you all can't find that, let me know and I'll file here too. Thanks for your patience.
