The Fall issue of he C&TS Dispatch is now available for download in .pdf format.

This issue, "Time Travel" includes reprints from a D&RG tourist guidebook from 1880 and a reprint from the book "3 Days, $20 Bucks" by the late Stan Rhine recounting his trip over the line in a caboose in 1954. It also includes a discussion of the new Master Plan for Cumbres and two fold-out maps of Cumbres, one from 1880 and one from 2011. In addition, there is a review of the new book from the Center for Railroad Photography and Art, Rio Grande Steam Finale of photos of the narrow gauge in the 1950s and 60s. also, photos from Work Sessions C and D.

Heads up!

There appears to be a glitch in the page order that makes it look as if there are missing pages. See my next post (below) to the description and solution to reading it in the proper order.

Problem solved!
As you reach the end of page 12, "....it was the kind of day you [end of page], go to the second (1880) fold out and continue on page 13, [far right panel of the fold out]"...wished you could record...etc.] Then at the bottom of that page "...that this was as far as we would go....[end of page] and continue on the top of page 17,"today. The crew from Durango..." and continue normally.

Why this mess? For the paper version, page 13 had to be printed on the back side of the second fold out and then folded under at the staple to be in the correct location after page 12. In the .pdf version, nothing on the back side of the second fold out is "folded under," so it appears out of place. it is...but it's not. (???) All of this was so the fold out would be at the center staple binding.
