Huckleberry RR Flint, MI Opening Day May 23

Unread postby Larry Gibson » Fri May 22, 2015 3:49 pm

Huck Opening Day begins as C&TS May 23. K-27 464 is the principal locomotive and the RR has one Rio Grande Southern Coach in its passenger fleet. Railfan Day is usually the first Saturday in August with shop tours and behind scenes activities.

On May 20 the RR held its annual preseason Senior Day. Photos from Wednesday attached.

Though you can't see me, I'm riding in the first car right behind the engine. Also wearing my Cumbres & Toltec engineer hat, and Paul the engineer liked it!

Thanks Farol for promoting the C&TS RR to all the seniors attending! Larry

You're Welcome, Larry! We'll do the same on Saturday, August 1st for their "Railfan Weekend" annual event. Got to remember to remind Tim Tennant to send the "goods" (6' banner & flyers) again.

So, both surviving Mudhens pulled Opening Day trains on the same day?

That's pretty dang cool.

They sure did Jason! May 23rd, and sister Mudhen #464, was Huckleberry Crossroads Village Opening Day, and they'll be open until Sept. 7th, Wednesdays through Sundays (closed on Monday & Tuesdays). While I was on board the train on May 20th, the Conductor announced over their PA, that there were "Only 2 Mudhens in the World." Pretty nice!
