Three Day Work Session Announcement

Unread postby Tim Tennant » Thu Apr 05, 2012 9:20 am

The Friends Project Committee is announcing today the addition of a SPECIAL 3-DAY WORK SESSION to the 2012 session schedule.

This special session will run from 8:00 AM Friday morning June 22th through 1:00 PM Sunday June 24th. The session is offered at the CRF in Antonito Colorado.

For several years now we have been encouraged by those still employed to host weekend work sessions. This is the first of a regular “3-Day” session that will become a permanent fixture in the annual schedule. As demand for the shorter sessions increase additional 3-Day sessions will be added. The inclusion of a shorter work session in the schedule is an attempt to reach out to those members unable to participate in a weekly program. This year we are offering two projects for selection by attendees.

The first project will be Cook Car 053; Team leader is Mike O’Nele, assisted by Bill Kepner. The second project will be shaping Oak pieces needed during construction of Passenger Car Trucks for Cook Car 053 and Tourist Sleeper Car 0252/470. The Team Leader is Russ Hanscom. Volunteers participating in this project should have good wood working skill.

Regular lunch and snacks will be offered. Lunch cost is $15.00 for all 3 days. Volunteers must be Friends members and submit the usual insurance and registration forms. The registration fee for the 3-day session is $10.00.

If you have never attended a work session before this would be an excellent opportunity. Come and see what the Friends are all about while having fun and volunteering. There will be a lot going on this weekend, no time to twiddle your thumbs.

Contact the Friends office regarding questions about session registration at 505-880-1311 or on the Web http://www.cumbrestoltec.org under the volunteer drop down, choose volunteer forms and information, select Form R-1C. Attendees should plan their arrival for Thursday evening, in preparation for an 8 AM start Friday morning. The CRF facility is located at 109 Monte Vista, Antonito, CO 81120.
