Annoying links

Unread postby Edwin Frey » Wed Mar 05, 2014 11:53 am

It seems that several words on the main page have been converted to hyperlinks to sites advertising for mortgage quotes and other things. Is this something that's been done to get financial support for the webcams, or has someone pirated parts of the page? I find them irritating because if my cursor even just passes over them, they bring up windows I have to shut down so I can navigate back to the webcams. Just wondering... :-?

Sounds like you've got some malware/adware infesting your machine. Everything looks normal for me.

Try running MalwareBytes. Be sure to run "Perform FULL Scan." It'll take several hours to finish, but it works well.

Good luck.

ditto to what Jason posted. And, you might also get "Adblock Plus".

Edwin - good luck with your issue, it sounds like a virus/malware/adware to me as well.

Jason -- thanks for the suggestion of the MalwareBytes - I don't particularly want to promote a product on here that's not related to the Friends, but wow - it works great! I've been having an issue with my laptop for some time, and the quick run of this program seems to have resolved it - and I've tried many others, even found a few things on the desktop. Just used quick scan for now, but will do full scan overnight.

No problem here. Using XPPro, Google Chrome. Always run Malware Bytes.
