Chama, N.M. High Country Sea Gulls (off topic)

There is more to the Chama and Antonito area than the railroad. In this forum we will feature photos and articles about other things to see and do.

Chama, N.M. High Country Sea Gulls (off topic)

High Country Sea Gulls I found these at Lake Heron and the elevation is over 7,000 ft. Every time I see them I wonder why are they at a lake this high and where do they go when the lake freezes over in the winter ???

Roger,
What camera & Lens do you use to take these pics?
Great shots.
Is there a little photoshopping going on as well?

Once again fantastic shots. I'm used to seeing gulls constantly, as I'm about 10 miles or so straight line from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, but I'm always amazed these birds make it to States you wouldn't think they'd be in. The third shot down is a ring billed gull, could be just migrating through - though seems a bit late for that. The others look to me like California gulls, according to my birding book they can be year round in that part of the country.

Thanks again for sharing Roger!
