October 14: 315 ready to roll and departure

Unread postby Larry Gibson » Mon Oct 14, 2013 7:54 am

315 and two 480s hot in the yard. Speculation is 315 will run light to Antonito after 216 heads east at 10:00 local time.

Shortly after 216's departure the 315 heads for Antonito and it's long winter's nap.

Hi Larry --
I can't help but notice a marked difference between the lower resolution of you screen captures and the higher resolution of Jason's, or for that matter the higher resolution of the live feed itself on my PC screen. Why might that be?

Hi Dick,

What I've done is to expand the view box to full screen to watch on iPad. Then do a screen capture off the iPad. Just trying to fill in Jason's "blanks" when he's busy or away. Thought these rudimentary images would help tell the story for others who don't have the time to catch the action.

As the season winds down hoping these images will help keep the home fires glowing until spring. I've had the time over the last few days to watch so posted more than my share. Not trying to be a board hog.

Larry - the resolution you get is probably very similar to what I get on my computer at home -- and the efforts are very much appreciated when I can't be around live to watch the action for sure.

And a little off topic for this thread, but can we expect to see anything after Sunday with equipment/cars being moved around, or will Sunday be the last we'll see of steam of any kind until spring? Just curious. Thanks.

There will almost certainly be sporadic movements as the railroad prepares for winter. There's always the "hospital train" that takes coaches to Antonito for winter repairs.

If I get a heads-up on anything, I'll pass the word.

Larry, my question was a technical one. Sounds like the iPad is the culprit in reducing resolution; noticed that on my iPad as well.

Dick,

Check my photos from Today's "October 15: 216 Departure" thread. Put enhanced image mode on screen captures...a little more vibrant colors.
