i saw a post that the railroad bought a white pass diesel as back up power. will this

extend time on 1472 hrs since a steam loco is currently used for back up

It should, since they can now leave them cold unless needed for the train.

Is there an estimated time period for the diesel actually arriving to either Antonito or Chama? Curious how much work will be needed before it will be ready for service.

The diesel should arrive mid-summer. It will be shipped by barge down to Washington State then placed on a depressed-center flat car for the trip to Antonito where it will be unloaded and prepped for service.
