Session E has begun in Antonito

The goals for this week's work is continuing on the rebuild of caboose 5635, cleaning up the CRF area and rebuild 2 trucks to be used on tank cars that are being refurbished. Here are a few shot from the first day sent to me by Don Atkinson.

I have gotten the pictures from Pat Maufrais who is doing the chronicling for this session. This is from Monday.

As per Coronavirus guidelines, a temperature check is done each morning

The Monday morning safety briefing has begun

Anyone who registered for the work sessions this summer knows this handbook since you had to read an online version and certify that you understood it.

Session E Tuesday's photos.
This is the only shot today from work on the 5635 upscale caboose.

Wiring work is still ongoing inside the rebuild and upgrade of caboose 5635

Looks like he is grinding off some rust on that piece

Everything else from today involves the work on the new tank car wheel sets.

The following series of shots shows the work necessary to get a bolster onto the wheel sets.

The wheel set is now on the assembly track and the loader is being detached

A side bolster is hoisted up while the Friend is scraping off some rust

Work continues on rebuilding the trucks on Tuesday.
We start this thread with the installation of the springs into the bolsters.

The crew is placing a large beam to work the bolster so the springs can be inserted

This series looks at installing a side bolster onto the truck.

With the help of the loader, the bolster is slipped into place

A little butt action going on as they force the bolster into place

Oh, it will go we just know it

In place the bearing and plates can be installed on this side

With the second bolster in place, the top place can be attached to it.

With the side bolsters in place the top plate is installed

One Friend is directing the loader as it lowers the top plate

The plate takes a little bit of the old muscle grease to line up

Further work to get the plate into the proper position
