Length of Track beyond the road crossing at Chama

Unread postby Martyn Chapman » Mon Feb 25, 2013 8:41 am

Hj
I was watching the new dvd "coal smoke over cumbres" and the first shots are of the freight train coming into Chama from the Durango end near the stock yard. Can anyone tell me how much track there is heading out towards Durango from the last switch of the "Y"?

regards

My best guess is between 800 and 1000 feet from west wye switch to end-of-track.

I just tried to figure it out from both Google and Bing maps but in both cases I couldn't tell if I was looking at old right of way or track.

The line ends just east of the first road crossing west of the wye.

I wish there were another 107 miles of track west of Chama.
