Friday 7/28/17 Emuse

Well the final day of the session provided us with the excitement of a real 9 car double header. Work basically stopped all over the area as the train departed right on the advertise. I had my video camera set up and also took stills but these will not be processed until I get home. Some interesting things happened today with my work teams. The MOW bunk car conversion into a rider car had its stove placed this afternoon with the assistance of the railroad in the form of 489 moving the car to a location where the load could easily get to the door. On photo freights this coal stove will be welcomed in cooler weather.

Does your cast iron stove have a place to keep my old enamel 12 cup coffee pot hot? It has been wonderful to have your "eyes" on the ground during this session. Thanks

Thanks for the nastalgia Sharon. On The Southern Pacific where I was born and raised, the Pot bellied stoves were a staple everywhere. Back then though a sheet of asbestos would be protecting the wall from the heat.

Wow! The #04258 Sectionmen's Car has come a long way since the rehab started in the 'C' session. A lot of hard work has gone into this project. I can't wait to see it out on the road!

All the car needs now is a good ole coffee pot and some cups and off we go! Job well done.

On Friday work moved forward on the conversion of 3537. Later Thursday, the paint crew had applied the primer coat to the car.
