489 looks like it could be fired up and go with the tender on, but it still looks like the steam dome cover is off.

I wonder when was the last time a locomotive kept its tender all winter?

If it has to have work done on it the tender will normally come off when they put the engine in the shop.

I believe the draw bar and pins need checking every so often as part of the FRA requirements.

My guess is they will start arranging coached around the middle of May. There is still a lot of snow up high. 5 1/2 ft. at Cumbres Pass today.
