Dual Gauge switch in Antonito

Unread postby Douglas van_Veelen » Mon Mar 06, 2017 4:18 am

Hi,

I hope I'm not discussing something that is already been resolved here and I have not been able to find.

The dual gauge switch in Antonito came from (as I recall) came from the Alamosa Power Plant in the 1990s.

The one worn frog in it makes it unusable.

Was any thought given to trying to find a replacement frog ? Was ant thought given to aquiring a dual gauge switch from the EBT?

A switch placed between the station platform and the water tank in dual gauge like the existing one that is operable and some dual gauge rail added to the platform and to the US 285 crossing would make an additional storage spur available and would allow demonstration of dual gauge trains possible. Dual Gauge is not high priority but I was wonder what a replacement frog would cost or a complete dual gauge switch.
