The Hardware Store.

Doug Frederick, 103 Maple Ave, B1171

Chama, New Mexico, 87520.

As the season closes, we begin to prepare for next year. While many of you, understandably, don't yet have the personal time to come for work sessions, you can still help a little or a lot, by contributing tools and material. Tools, blades, supplies, new or old. Christmas is coming, many of you may get new reciprocal saws and battery drills, and you can send those old ones to us for some TLC. Several of you have already sent or brought items like old chain saws and weed eaters. Even old screwdrivers and scrapers are a great help.

The more little things you contribute, the more money we save in overhead for our many exciting projects.

Because our members are so widespread, you might see a good local deal on work gloves, or safety glasses, or saw blades. Garage sales, ect. Any little bit helps. You don't have to send new stuff. Buy -yourself- the new stuff (you deserve it) and send me your old stuff. Just think of how cool it would be to get a new battery drill for Christmas, so you can send me your old one.

A special shout out for John E. Bush from Omaha, for the super new, big shop vac, and Jeff Gordon for the new dust pans. John and Jeff were kind enough to ask what we could use most on the Chama woodshop. My address is above, please send what you can.

This is a list of things we regularly use, and need. This list will change.

Cotton clothes line

Blue tarps

Locktite

Anti-seize

Pipe dope

Sawzall blades, any kind

Cutting wheels

Stilson wrenches, -large- (garage sale item)

Pipe wrenches, large

Penetrating oil

Safety glasses

Push broom heads

Flatbars, nail removal

Large or long crow bars

Carpenter squares, any kind.

Thanks again, and be sure to check back.

And if you send something, be sure to include a note so I can thank you here.

Hi Doug, you might check over at Antonito at the CRF tool room for safety glasses and goggles. I brought out 4 or 5 dozen of brand new ones this summer. Marshal Smith would probably know their location.

Thanks, John, I will. We're tearing down the 0306 Caboose this weekend, and I'm working over there.

It was the general idea I was trying to push, though, but thanks!

It's easy to do. You know that bin of $2 tools by the door down at the hardware store or auto parts store? Close your eyes, grab something, and stick it in a $2 mailer.

Seriously, whatever it is, we can use it.

Old wrenches, old screw drivers. Even if the tips aren't saveable, I can ground them down into prison shanks, and sell them down at County to raise money.

I have received several small donations over the winter, a screwdriver assortment for the CRF, and some magnifying desk lamps for tool benches. Thank you for the support, and keep your tool rooms in mind if you spot good deals on bits and blades!
