The 484 seems to have gotten the call for today's 216. The bus to Antonito is sitting at the depot waiting for its 8:30 departure.

Moving out from the house 484 shows nice steam and smoke in the 55 degree air.

The 484 and 487 sit on the main, the fire control speeder is at the pit and 489 sits at the house.

The 484 just backed to and coupled to the 7 car train so the plot thickens here.

484 has now pulled train 216 forward into loading position.

487 has come back into Chama after its little jaunt on the main. If you look closely, the fire patrol speeder has backed all the way to south yard and will probably access the main there.

As 484 passes the coaling tower, he signals to the conductor for the running brake test.

484 is now by the water tank and acknowledges the conductors signal for a good test.

Some holiday bunting decorates the parlor car today as 216 clears the tipple.

Yes, its been there since opening day. For some reason they removed it from New Mexico and left it on Colorado.

I have no idea what is going on with 487, but over the last few days they have been running it out onto the main for brief excursions and then backing into the yard. Here it is again after one of these and the fire patrol speeder is also back for the day.

Well 487 just got back from yet another jaunt out at 1530 local. Are they possibly adjusting its valve timing or something else with the gear. Maybe this time they are satisfied with their work since 487 is now parked in front of the east stall.

489 finally comes out from behind the engine house and parks in front of 487 on the east side.

Well did not catch it on the CDOT cams again today.
If you were not watching the arrival than listen on the video, the wind was blowing so hard it whistled at times.
OK, here is a riddle for all: why did they swap locomotives today at Osier?

Could be that they are not yet quite happy with 487 operation and they want to keep a K36 as backup in case there is a problem on the hill. 463 can handle Antonito to Osier with a couple of extra cars if needed.
