488 is getting ready to take today's 216 east and the Friends are already making a lot of noise around Chama.

After 216 left with the 488, 487 is switching the south yard.

After the switching, 487 leaves Chama with a short train.

After that, she headed into the right side of the engine house through the "back door".

I can see smoke coming from the roof jack on the right side as looking at the engine house.

I'm pretty sure that is 489 in front of the left side, so smoke on the right side would be nice to see. I hope we get to see 487 pulling 216s and 215s again soon.

The Friends working on the coal tipple have been dealing with the bucket lift all day today and I have been listening to them. They seem to be getting it to work like it is supposed to.

Train 215 arrives Chama almost on time with locomotive 484 leading the 8 car train.

487 has come out and is now sitting in front of 489 on the left side as we view it. Maybe she will lead 216 tomorrow.

Here's today's lot of videos. Another busy day in the rail yard with all the Friends projects going on, 487 on another shakedown run, and all the tipple work being done. Keep in mind all the noises and voices on today's videos are primarily the guys working on the tipple. Sounds like a lot of hard work, but sounds to be successful as well.

08-06-15 After 216's departure, #487 did some yard switching then headed out with a short train.


08-06-15 #487 returns with train, caboose first. There was some more yard switching after the return that I don't have here, if anyone wants that posted let me know.


08-06-15 Train 215 Returns


As Sharon noted above, 487 is now the lead locomotive on the left side, so again we'll see if she gets to pull the train tomorrow. Yesterday she was in front of 488, and 488 went out this morning. Just when you think you know what's happening at this railroad, they change things up!!! But that's all the fun part of watching. Thanks again to all for the coverage today.
