DAY TWO - WORK SESSION E - August 7, 2012
Posted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 6:37 pmIt's Day Two - and project teams are all off and running, making good progress! The Friends appreciate the assistance of five Boy Scouts and two adult sponsors from Colorado Springs, CO (thanks to John Engs) who are relocating the Friends' donor boards from the main parking lot area to a space in the north garden area! We hope to see them again next year.
We also have some photos taken today of the Commission's covered picnic shelter project at Cumbres. The Friends have assisted the Commission with grant-writing and will also provide some assistance during Session F in relocating the picnic tables to the new shelter. It should be ready for use within two weeks. Commissioner Randy Randall, Commission Executive Director Leo Schmitz and Richard and Caroline Tower are the reason that this project is nearing completion!

- Snowshed header repair will be accomplished by Team Leader John Cole and his team members Tom Hindman, Ron Horejsi, Chris Jensen and Joe Kanocz
- Team Leader John Sutkus and Ron Schmitt install new siding on coal tipple
- Team Leader Tim Bristow and team member Terri Shaw (former Friends' President), paint fascia boards for boxcar 3669
- Joe Kanocz and John Engs load snowshed header for trip to Cumbres
- Team Leader Mary Jane Smith and Nancy Gordon plan tomorrow's lunch - hard to top today's pulled pork barbecue, ladies!
- L.D. Osborn and George Davies working on tongue & groove siding for car 3669 while Jim McGee works on triple valve underneath the car
- Team Leader Len Jones cuts post to right size while Jim Sublett sets post into position - Chama stock pen fence repair team
- Close up of new wood framing for RPO X54's clerestory windows
- Bill Strathearn, Team Leader, Carpentry Shop, has everything under control!
